Was Pops old feight truck Rick, sat in the trees from 1970 to 2004, in restoration for 7 yrs, came home end of July.

That is the way an old car or truck should look like. Not chopped up into some dam hot rod. Have a shop not far from me. Has a 1938 Packard custom bodied car. He is cutting it up to make a hot rod out of it. Makes me sick everytime I drive by his shop and see it.

That truck brings back Memories --- I learned how to drive in a 1947 pickup, 4 speed , non syncro mesh tranny. Tough old truck . Then we had a 1947 Grain Truck - 16' bed and hoist.
Let her set until harvest and it just fires right up --- every time.

Great Trucks --- What a great picture - take care of it !!!!!

Billy you sound like my FIL.....I got a Fiero to fix up for the wife. He's mad cause when it's done it's getting regular plates and she will be able to drive it when she wants to. He thinks she should put collector plates on it and only drive it in parades.

Rick

Is it a "cabover/cabforward" model?I had onethat was three different shades of green/turquise-we called it "old ugly".It too,had a 283 and ran like a"Stiped tailed monkey"

Sorry you don't like hot rods. I like both ways and they are only "new" once. It may be sad to see a very clean original cut up or modified but once it gets old and needing repair.....to each his own!

Thanks for the positive comments, Dad bought the truck used in 1949, traded it away on a 54 Ford, neighbor then bought it and was in service on his farm until 1970 aprox, bought it back from his widow and it came home a 2nd time. Sat basically dorment for the next 30+ yrs or so with the odd start-up. Dads been gone since 1968. Dan

What a beautiful truck!!! I remember my dad bought a new '48 model. Probably looked just like that-----
