Ford 801

Ok, guys, back to the Ford 801 diesel..We took everything you all told us, and we got her to run!! THANKS SO MUCH!! but more help is needed...When its running, it starts a knocking noise that last 1-2 seconds, and when its doing this, its popping back thru the air intake..The tractor is running, but runs with a bad mis in it, and you have to either it to start it. Ive adjusted the timing all the way around by twistiing the injection pump, and it dont help the mis or the popping back thru air intake...Some suggestions please!!!!

I would check valve clearance and that the exhaust valves are opening and closing. Check lifters, push rods and rocker arms

I'd rotate it over when adjusting the valves and make sure you don't have a lobe worn off the camshaft. Only take a few min. Worth that to know.
