I move we create another forum and call it Yesterday's Washers. I need a drain hose assem. for my Maytag washer, it started leaking today. It's 81 years and three motors old this year.

Does it have a square aluminum tub. Sold our mom's on auction a few years ago for one dollar. I think the drain hose was shot also. Not that this information will help you any. It had a gasoline engine originally. I remember that stinky bugger running out on the porch.

For cryin' out loud! I think I would call the factory and lodge a formal complaint! They just don't make 'em like they used to. LOL
Seriously, I hope you fine something that will get the job done. Good luck.

you can still get the hose for the white Maytags, think you will have to buy it yourself though, don't think Maytag will replace it.

That is about a hunderd dollars low, any complete white tub will bring that without a motor as the washers are repowered with Honda 2 horse engines. This year have not found any but last year I got 4 bought.

Lehman's Hardware Store of Kidron, Ohio can probably sell you what parts you need for one.

Also----new wringer washing machines are being made with stainless steel tubs. Overseas mfg. if I recall correctly.

We didn't have a Maytag, but instead ours was sort of a Cadillac and was called a Twin-tub Dexter. The two tubs were for wash water and rinse water. Haven't a clue why more weren't built that way unless it was because they required more storage space.

Here is a link to an ad showing one. Not sure how long the ad will be up.

Lehmans Hardware, Kidron, Ohio about wringer washers.

Last year I had an Amish fella rebuild my wifes grandmothers old maytag. He said almost all parts are available thru the aftermarket. The metal pieces are all stainless steel. He replaced a lot of parts and seals and when it was done I spent $212 on parts and labor. My wife was happy.

I remember helping Mom wash when I was a kid. We had a 2 compartment concrete sink. I think the drill was, wash water down the drain, but rinse water into one compartment of the sink, to be used for wash water on the next load. Provided the same function as two compartment washer, while taking up less room.

My mom told me once how ticked off her older sister used to get when she had to go to the milk house to get the magneto from the vacuum pump in order to do a load of wash. She didn't think that she was cut out for farm life.
