What do you think of this truck? (PICS)

During my search for a flatbed to put on the back of my truck, a gentleman responded to my add on craigslist, and he said that he had a flatbed. Well the deal is he doesn't want to sell just the flatbed but the truck that its on too.

The truck is a 1999 Ford F250 Super-duty. It has a V10 and automatic transmission in it. The bed is a Winkel, and has a goose-neck ball and headache rack. The truck has 172,000 miles on it. Price wise, he threw out $3500, but he said to make an offer. He doesn't use the truck anymore as he has others on the farm. I have included some pictures of the truck. He said that it starts up and runs great, and it also has 4x4 that works good too. It has a used set of newer tires on it that he put on this last spring.

I was wondering what you all thought of on the deal?

I know I could get it for less then the price he threw out.

Your input is greatly appreciated!

Buy it. Other than poor fuel mileage it should be a great truck. All things considered.Worst you would have to do is junk the body and put the bed on your truck.

If you put any value on your time and nerves, get it. Spend the time you'd spend modifying your existing truck by doing a little buffing and waxing. Wirebrush and can of rustoleum would make you a real nice looking rig.Make you some drop in sides and tailgate (have to put a couple brackets in place) in case you need to haul anything. Can't answer for the gas mileage but how does it compare to your existing truck (that would go in the toilet as soon as you put a bed like that on it)?

well, the price is right in my area any 4x4 truck, any year, that will untrack under its own power will bring 2500 as a wood truck, that bed while not as desirable as a dually bed is still worth a grand, if your other truck is a single rear wheel, you can change the bed out, and resell the ford chassis and get at least half your money back, or keep it and just drive it when you actually need it, it should have good power but you wont like the gas millage, if its like the dodge v-10 expect 6 to 8 mpg

Looking at the seat the owner looks to weigh in at a touch over 375 lbs. What is it worth to you, make an offer.

I think you'll find that V-10 is a powerhouse of an engine. My 2000 F250 Superduty gets around 14 mpg and when I have the gooeneck on it loaded it drops to about 10. I have 190,000 on mine and would buy another V10 over a diesel anyday. That's just my thoughts and I'm sure others will not agree. The Ford V-10 in my opinion is by far better than the Dodge V-10 performance and fuel mileage. Just my thoughts, Keith
