Exhaust Mainifold Stud

On my 1950 8N I need to replace one of my exhaust manifold studs. I find a part number of either 88403S, or 88403-S, or 88403-S43 in the FO-4 manual as well as a more generic manual that was picked up at Tractor Supply. However, I am not finding this part or part number on this website. Any suggestions on a correct part number? Where I can pick one up?

Why not make one out of a piece of B-7? You can't get this stuff at a hardware store, you have to go somewhere where they sell bolts, but you'll have enough to replace ALL the studs. Order a manifold stud for a Cat 3304 or 3306 and that's what you'll get: a piece of threaded rod.

You can order the stud from your CNH dealer or buy a generic one from any GOOD auto parts store.

Most manifold studs have fine threads on one side
and corse on the other. I've got a drawer in my
bolt bin, and I just checked them, various sizes and lengths, and all fine/corse.
I've saved old ones over the years...saves a trip
to town!

Fritz is right, the studs on alot of the CAT engines were nothing more than a piece of threaded rod. Does it work? Let me put it this way, I've had to cut nuts that wouldn't come loose more times than I've ever seen them get loose on their own. I've always been told that they do the coarse/fine thread thing on studs on help keep them tight as the different threads on each end cause each other to bind, or something to that effect, when tightend. In an exhaust manifold application the rust that fors after they have been hot a couple of times will serve the same purpose, and then some. So, in your case, the threaded rod will also work just fine, you'll just have to get the nuts to match the threads in the block.
