What's for supper?

See'n as how I got my chores done early....at least the ones I wanted to do I decided to cook out this afternoon. I prefer the smoker over the BBQ, everything seems to taste so much better so......I get out the largest SS bowl we have and start cutting up the veggies. White taters, red taters, zuchini squash, onions, bell pepper and carrots. Cut them all up into chunks, mix in the bowl, add olive oil and mix again, add salt and pepper and mix again and cover with foil. Then it goes into the smoker for 2 plus hours. Also 3 pounds of chicken wings and 3 pounds of drum sticks put in about an hour earlier, they will smoke for 3 plus hours. Wife gets home from work about 5:30 and she will be surprised.
So what ya'll having for supper?

LOL!
Well come on, it's only the two of us so if you and a few other don't show up we are gonna have a bunch of leftovers........which ain't a bad thing!

Looks like a pretty good meal you have cooking there. I've got a package of beer brats that need to be cooked so thing that's what I'm having for supper.

It"ll probably be a cold meat sandwich as usual . I"m no cook & alone , so I eat a lot of cereal & sandwiches .

Got out early too, have the impending doom, (thunderstorm) on the horizon, so.... out the back door of my kitchen to the produce department,(garden) for lettuce, tomato's, cucumbers, bell peppers, just enough for 1 bowl each evening, then it's those specially made (no nitrites) venison hot dogs on the grill, simple but good. At some point soon there will be some marinated venison back strap cuts, potatoes and onions from the garden, just waiting till some of those are large enough to harvest. Almost time to harvest a bunch of tomato's, looks like I will have enough for a big ole batch of sauce this year.

Nothing fancy around here for the most part never have the time, but having that small patch of a garden that I look over from my kitchen window is what makes this time of year the best !

I"m meeting James for dinner at our favorite Italian restaurant. I"ll have the salmon picatta and he will probably have spaghetti with meat sauce.

I"m planning on cooking a roast Sat. nite.

Homemade chili. What you have going certainly looks and sounds appetizing. I've got another year where the garden was not the greatest so maybe next year I can have some of those good looking vegetables.

Sure looks good to me; thanks for the recipe for the vegetables.

Maybe I'll try it one day next week.

Do you think the veggies recipe will cook if its sets out on my patio for 4 hours in 110o heat?

Thanks for sharing your photos with us.

Waiting for the charcoal to burn down, and the pecan chunks to soak up a little water as I type this. Have a pair of NICE THICK T-bones, fresh squash and asparagus to grill for my wife and I. Daughter gets a big cut of sirloin. MMMM....MMMM Mark

Venison, that is. Pound out a chunk of loin, dredge in flour mix, and fry in the old Griswold on low heat til it' s golden brown and med rare.
Fresh sweet corn from the patch, and sliced fresh tomatoes. A touch of Argentine Malbac wine.Orange sherbet for desert.

Yea, it will cook some but nearly enough. I leave this in the smoker covered for over 2 hours and the stuff melts in your mouth. I have undercooked it before and it's still good, but a bit hard. Also overcooked it one time, sort of like really tasty baby food! Tonight it was just right!

OMG that sure was good. Thanks for all the replies, I got a kick out of some of the replies. But........I felt sorry for a few. A raw potato is a meal? I love to snack on raw potato but a whole meal? NOT.

Shawn and I are going to come to your house for dinner, although we might be a LITTLE late..

Maybe just a tad bit late... Hold dinner for us!!!

LOL...LOL...LOL..LOL

LOL. OK, it's on hold.....in the fridge. Iff'n you don't make it tonight, there will be left overs for several days!!! Since it's just the two of us, it takes a while to eat it all.........but it ALWAYS get eaten!

Worked hard, worked late. Didn't get home till nearly 7:30.
So tonight it's going to be rather meager fare.
A Marie Callender chicken pot pie and a couple of big peaches.
Downsouth, I'd be happy to stop by for leftovers tomorrow.

Eggplant from the garden, fried in a cornmeal batter made on my old burr mill, a little scotch to wash it down. Kids and grandkids coming for the weekend so we're going to the Elks tomorrow night. Saturday's rib night on the smoker--none better anywhere!

No pictures, but my buddy had a bunch of us over for dinner, beer can chicken. The most moist chicken I've had in my life. A little macaroni salad, potato chips, and a cold brewski or two to finish it off.

Well, I was trying to get rid of some leftovers from Wednesday. Put a London broil in a pot, cover it with water and let 'er cook until tender. Drop in a couple bullion cubes about two hours before it's done, then use the broth for a pan of gravy to go over mashed potatoes! Yum, Yum! All I had to do tonight was make a fresh pan of gravy.
I have always wrapped the veggies in foil and cooked them on the grill. Never thought of just sticking the whole bowl in there, I'll have to try that. Thanks for the suggestion.

Can't remember where you are. I'm in so. Mn. It is 10:15 now. I'll be leaving in half an hour. Keep it warm till I get there.

my ancestors figured out how to cook on a stove in the house and not burn the house down also not getting black food with no ashes to clean up stove works fine when done turn the valve off. and eat-drink-be happy

My son asked an old-timer what changes he had seen in his lifetime. He said years ago people cooked in the house & crapped outside. Now they cook outside & crap in the house.

The whole bowl works out great, but it will get stained from the smoke pretty bad so....get permission first! The olive oil keeps the veggies from sticking inside the bowl too.
