Argh, the weatherman.

We've had a really wet summer, my first cut hay wasn't done yet. So when the weatherman called for 4 days of sun I let the fields dry a bit on day one, mowed a whack of hay day 2 (leaving big ruts in a lot of areas despite my floater tires on the tractor). Check the weather, great, another sunny day has been added to the forecast!

This am on day 3, I check the forecast. My day 4 and 5 are gone now replaced with rain, and today has 60% rain and thunderstorms predicted. Its 9 am and the fog hasn't lifted, I'll be lucky to get a few hours sun. The entire next week is predicted to rain as usual now too.

If these maritime summers keep going this way, I'm going to have to start teaching horse clients to use balage. I think it has rained something like 60 days out of the last 90, and only four 2 day periods of sun?

Sounds like you're getting pretty similar weather to me. I don't think I've seen the forest fire index go past moderate yet and that was only for a day. Seems we get a couple of nice days and then rain again, never a decent stretch. I'm in central Nova Scotia. Where abouts are you? Sam

Same here, you just can't get 3 days in a row!! I never did get done with 1st crop, now got 2nd about half done. baled a lot of damp stuff and gave it to the sil and his brother for cattle and heifer feed cause it didn't make it and suppose to rain for 3 or more days. Baled hay tuesday and gave it away and cut another field and it rained over 3 inches tues. night. got some floating right now. Today it's cloudy and no wind, suppose to rain more. This is the most frustrating summer I have ever been through, lots of dirt moved around and have tile lines blown out, the place will never be the same, I can't wait till winter and get back on something firm!!

Don't know where yer at Mike but here near Battle Lake Mn we haven't been that bad. Still can't seem to get the hay on the ground baled! I think I will finish mine today....I hope!

In the Pacific Northwest report, been abnormally cool all summer (a very few days over 80, many in the 60's)- but it stopped raining in mid July, and we've had 25 days now without precipitation (we're usually dry in the summer). So the hay is getting put up, but late, of course. Mine was cut August 6, baled and put in on the 9th. Actually, looks fairly decent.

I'm in NB between Fredericton and Woodstock. We've been plowed every batch of thunderstorms too. The guys in Moncton/Sussex get nailed with precip in the winter, we get it all in the summer.

I missed one of my patches of good haying as I was down in Windsor visiting family. Took a drive to Kentville and visited a few dealers looking at tedders.
