OT--Strange People at my address???

Why would I be receiving mail addressed to people I do not know?
Unfamiliar name with my current address that have never lived here.
I have checked with PO and they have no idea.
I have received about three in the 18 months I have lived here.
Most are Credit Card Offers!!
It's no big deal----I just wonder how many of you receive this type mail??

For a little fun with this, make up a fake name and use that when you fill out a prize drawing or sweepstakes ticket. Use a different name every time if you want to keep track.

One of mine is all consonants - he gets lots of junk mail though.

I once had the son of a fellow I knew use my address when he bought a new pickup. Out of town saved sales tax. And Out of smog test area (Colorado).
Right now I get mail for a guy who had a photo ticket in Denver...Never heard of him.

Son's class was doing a magazine subscription drive, and he wanted to subscribe to one himself. Just for fun, he subscribed in the name of our dog. We got pieces of mail for him for years. The most interesting was the offer of a $25,000 unsecured line of credit (I wouldn't have gone a dime over 10 grand- He was a good enough dog, I suppose, but not THAT good).

The disturbing part is that the offer was from the Bank of New York, which was the bank that administered my 401k at the time. Nice to know they were being careful with my money. . .

Someone messed up a ltter in my last name - they typed a V instead of a U - and I got junk make for a decade with that 'V' in my last name. Was kinda funny to see how that one deal got farmed out to junk mail lists over & over.

Somehow I got listed in one of the business directories as a 'pea grower' which I'm not, and this has put me into some sort of specialized big dollar industrial category. That was 15 years ago. I still get mailings on pivot irrrigation setups from California (I'm in Minnesota and need to tile to keep my corn & soybean fields dry enough to farm), and get odd sales calls for specialized farm equipment. Again, funny to see how one listing can snowball & take off a life of it's own.

I filled out the paperwork for a so-called Christian copywrite for our church. It enabled us to legally use music copied from songbooks that weren't purchased by the church. I think it was a scam, but beyond that - this so-called self promoting "Christian" company distributed my name to every Tom, Dick and Harry in the country. I had used my name, with the church address, in the paperwork, and they get something every week, with my name on it, in the church mailbox.

(quoted from post at 10:35:04 08/16/11) Someone has stolen your identity

They stole his identity, using a DIFFERENT NAME at the same address?

Must be the world's dumbest identity thieves.

That's about the size of that idea!

Sounds like someone used your adress for a purchase or on a credit/job app. I know in our area the places in the county seat like people to live within X number of miles of town and will not even consider anyone out as far as we are. So I can see a local using a 911 address near the county seat while trying to find a job. Then saying after landing that job....oh I moved.

Could also be a compnay trying to get bites from the actual residents of that address. I've gotten mail like that but it's all ads.

The name on my address is [b:9264fab3c3]Ezequiela Sierra[/b:9264fab3c3]---I googled the name and came up with pretty much nothing--sure glad I didn't find my address with it!!
It appears to be Spanish (Mexican) and there are no Spanish (Mexican) people in my family.
That I am aware of??

I still get mail for my wife who passed away in 04. For everything from a good credit score to having a good driving record for insurance. Even got one telling her. That since her last check up was so good. She now could qualify for lower health insurance. Used to bother me,but know I just have fun with it. Called the ones about her great checkup. Ask them how can a person that has been dead 11 years have a great checkup.Phone went silent.

We get junk mail and Credit card offers addressed to my Ex wife all the time!
Funny thing she has never lived at our address.
We bought the land and built the house several years after her and I got divorced and me and current wife had already been married for a while!

Farm Journal and other farm mags are guilty of selling your name. I used "Haywire Farm" one time in a reply card to FJ- amazing the crap I got for years with that in the address. Only time I ever used it. SF sells too, unless YOU tell them not to.

Your address has been used for something, that is obvius. I am currently getting offers in my name frm gerbers and pampers at my business PO box address along with life insurance offers for children..

And about once a year the police from a nearby county show up looking for an address. There is nothing but trees - and is owned by the state dept of natural resources. Prior to that it was used for beef cattle.

I entered my boxer dog in a radio station contest. He won, got a free coffee mug with his name on it. Then he started to get mail. No cc apps, but all kinds of junk mail. I miss the little guy. I liked him more than most of my family. Ok, all of my family....

We get mail for our Daughter, who left home
after finishing college in 1988.
I think that unscrupolus mailing list sellers
are scamming business by selling outdated lists!

We've been at this address for 13yrs and still get mail for the previous owners. No junk mail, all of them are bills. We tried labeling them "not at this address" and have the PO send them back. That stopped a few but then new ones will show up.

We know for a fact that the old owners moved to the next county east of us. Apparently they still give this address to creditors. Most of the bills are from hospitals and medical clinics.

I got one better than that, I had a guy give'n out my phone number one time. When I was in college I stared have'n folks call my house look'n for a guy named Mike. At first it was just a few girls I b.s.ed with and didn't think any thing about it. Then his grandmother and the rest of his family started call'n. I was the only one who had lived there for two years and I think I was the first guy in that house to have a phone for about 15 years. Finally I asked his aunt for the guy's last name and called the phone company and told them what was go'n on. They said they had a guy with that name in the same small town but he had a unlisted number, wouldn't give it to me, and wouldn't call him for me to tell him he had been give'n out the wrong number. I was still get'n a couple of calls a week for him a few months latter when I moved out.
