Sent(2) 3.5 year old red angus females, exposed to red char/shorthorn bull. Should have came up prego on the check. Any guess's as to what the will bring? Also sent in a yearling heifer, red/black angus, she is grey, any guess's on her as well. Check should come tomorrow. I'm just hoping for $1000 each, one buddie says expect more. This is just for fun to see who is closest. They were very nice looking ctiiers, just a little in need of a good bath as the rain has kept the yard a mud pen.

Well if you where to split with us any thing over the $1000.00 we'd all guess but if its just for fun I'd say $999.99.

Dave,

Here in Middle Tennessee I would guess that your bred cows would bring a little over $1,000.00. Your yearling should weigh around 900 pounds and I'd expect her to bring right at $1.00 pound.

Of course, Minnesota is 800 or 900 miles away from here, so I have no insight into your market.

Around here, black Angus bring more than any other breed/color.

Goo luck,

Two problems here they are red not black so deduct 10 cents a pound. Now they are 3.5 years old and will weight in over 800 so cut that $1.10 in half. I would say between $500 and $700 each.

$1000-$1050 on the cows if they are bred, .80/lb if they are open. About $1.05/lb on the heifer.

But I wonder how the drought figures out in all this ? Lots of cattle being sold because of no feed and water.

Open... they're worth 55 cents per as of last week around here, mabey a bit more. I'd figure on more like 550-700 realistically. 850 on a real good day. Anything after that is gravy.

I sold some Tuesday, 4 cows, 2 were 3-5 years old weighed around 1400 and brought 72 cents. Grossed a thousand and change. Other two were older, ten plus. Averaged 1300 and brought 69.50. Three pens of steers with them weighed in the 7's and brought 1.35. No complaints other than I didnt have more to sell at that price.

Nothing sold by the head that day. All these cows were bred, 3 of them 7-9 and they still went to the killers. Two were old and didnt raise good calves last year. The other two were a little too high strung for me. My legs arent good and messing around with wild and crazy cows just isnt smart any more if it ever was.

Why do Black Angus bring more? I myself can't
tell any difference in beef taste or quality.
Also my herfords are more docile, and the black
ones seem meaner.
Is it a "fashion" thing, with the fast food
joints advertising "That great Angus beef"
