Was wondering if anyone knows of a company who makes a step extension bracket for a 3020/4020 where you can mount the two steps that came with the 3020/4020 together. I found one on ebay for $70 seems high was called STEP EXTENSION JOHN DEERE 2510 3010 4010 2520 3020 4020. Was made by a company called premier industries. Just trying to save a few $ if I can for a bracket and some bolts.

If I used the 4020 more I'd sure look into the ladder type step Deere has out to fit them. Even has a hand rail. Looks like it would be the way to go. Expensive ,but in the long run may help ward off knee replacements of other aliments.

That does seem pretty high. I would bet you could find someone to make one like it much cheaper. On my 2510 I have the 3 step and handrail thing from Sloan Express. They are pretty nice but do stick out in the way quite a bit. They wouldn't fit my 4010 without cutting part of the loader frame. I found the double steps off of a 4620 and put them on. It took a little modification but works real nice and isn't in the way.

There is also an aftermarket available, but it isn"t built as rugged as the Deere model, but costs a little less. My son has one (aftermarket) on a 4555 and when I step up on it I can feel it give and it has a "flimsy" feel to it and I only weight 200#.

On my 30, 40, and 50 series I added HM steps- 3/8 x 4 steel with two 90 degree bends, flat plate for a step (round the corners), and a piece of expanded metal welded on top for traction. Bolts to underside of existing bottom step. Just a few bucks apiece for material.

I"ve got a 4010 JD with a loader on it. The joy stick mounting bracket closes up the right side of the tractor making the step useless. My knees are bad and the one step on the left was too high. I took the right side step off and made a sturdy bracket that I then mounted on the left side, effectively giving me two steps on that side. Was cheap and easy to build with some good angle iron.

You get what you pay for and everything is competively priced. A major tractor company is not going to sell a cheap flimsy add on step no matter what color it is. Jim

I have found that the new style steps are the best investment for my 30 and 40 series tractors. I take the original 30 series steps apart removing the strap that originally ran under the battery box. cut that strap to match the original 20 series step. you can do this and only have to drill one 1/2 " hole. T weld that too the other step bracket and you have the best 20 series two step system available. Check with your local deere dealer for some throw aways or for someone who has updated their 30 or 40 series. I will try and get you some picks.

When I install the aftermarket steps on 30-55 series deere I take the old steps and install on the right side of the tractor. Works great for washing windows. Only have to drill one hole in bottom of frame rail.
