Dad had horses when I was born. The first tractor I remember was a Fordson. Then Grandpa got a Allis Chalmers WC. Later he got a Massy Harris 30, and a Farmall. The farm was in Central Ohio. Wish I could find the WC. The first tractor I drove.

I'll start with grandpa's as dad used them too before buying his own.

1) Allis Chalmers RC, purchased in 1959, still have it.
2) 860 Ford, purchased in the 1960's, still have it.
3) Allis Chalmers D-14, purchased in the 1960's, still have it.
4) Dad's first, 830 Case Comfort King, purchased in 1982, still have it.
5) Grandpa's last tractor before passing away, Allis Chalmers 170 with cab and loader, purchased in 1990 by my grandmother and dad as a surprise for grandpa. It allowed him to retire his 860 Ford. Still have this one too.

My dad was born in1907. He started farming with horses. With his brothers he bought a Fordson about 1920. When I asked an uncle about it he said that it boiled all day. In 1930 a neighbour bought a model C Case. The brothers all liked it and bought one. Dad bought a new one in 1936 that I still have. The brothers bought several C's and L's in the late 1930s.

Dad died as a result of his war service in WW2 and I really count myself luck to have found his tractor in the early 1970s. It is promised to my nephew as his oldest grandson.

Dad was always a Dairy Farmer as I remember.I can barely remember his 2 teams of Horses working although he had them until after WW2.His first tractor was a Hart Parr on steel,a 1934 model I think,he had rubber tires welded on after WW2.In 1939 I was 2 years old and he bought another tractor to farm a larger acreage,a used Oliver row Crop 70 with a two row cultivator.During the war years the tractors were used sparingly due to the Gasoline shortage. In 1948 I think it was he bought another Oliver an it was a 77. In 1952 he got a used Oliver 88 and bought a new mounted corn picker for it.In 1955 he was farming more land and had a hired man and he bought a new Oliver 99 with a 6 Cyl gas engine. That was a smooth running tractor.A new 5 bottom plow came with it along with a used 15" disc. In 1974 he trade the 88 for a new 880 and also got a 4 row cultivator.I have his farm ledger and all this info is written down in it.

Granddad 1929 Regular, swapped for a 1939 H, swapped for a 1947 H. Dads oldest Bro. in 1940"s a new B Farmall. he got sick was not in the mix for many years. Light farming after was able to swapped B for a used C. Dad and youngest Bro became partners for about 20 years. Dad bought a Super A used, farmed several years with Super A and 47H. They bought a F20 in 1958 and we used it a lot. Bought a 330U at a farm sale. They bought a used 230 at a farm sale, later Dad sold Super A bought another 230. Traded H for an M. They split up Dad kept 330U and His 230 Uncle kept 230 and M. I came back to farm We bought a 400 D, used it a few years bought a 460D. Bought a Super M with power steering to put loader on. Swapped 330U and 230 for 756D still have it. Swapped 400D and loader for a new 258 NH Rake. Dad died I swapped Super M for 544gas put loader on it. Bought a 706D with 310 eng. with a loader on it sold 544 and loader. still have 756D 706D and 460D. but don"t farm any more.

My Dad was born in 1908 and died in 2000

My earliest recollection is of a team of horses called Tom and Topsy, and a stud colt named Harness. Topsy got old and was replaced by Dick. Later Dad bought a bigger team named Babe and Queen, he kept them until about 1958, the last couple of years they were used mostly in the woods, logging and sugaring.

Before I was born, I know he had a T-20 crawler, no blade or winch, what was called a grasshopper.

In 1949 he bought a Farmall C, it had been used as a demonstrator, (not a White one), and somebody had rolled it over and broken the front end off. The dealer repaired it and sold it to Dad. Tractor, two way plows, three bar side delivery rake, and a green crop loader, $2500, and he gave them $25 down on it.

Shortly after that he bought a John Deere 40 crawler with a blade and winch, that he used for logging. He got behind on payments, and the dealer took it back.

A couple ofyears later he bought a John Deere 420 crawler which he kept until 1961, when he traded it on a 1010. The 1010 was an early model and a hard luck machine, he traded that the next year for a newer one that I still have.

In 1961 he also bought a Super C Farmall, a sprayer and a set of disk harrows, all of which I still have, but the sprayer is rotting away in the wreckage of a tumbledown shed.

1964 or '65 he bought a Farmall M, which was our big horse until I got the MF 175D in the early '90's. I still have, and use, the M as well.

Dad bought the place in '48, the year I was born. I barely remember a team of Percherons named Tom and Jerry plowing the garden, I think they were gone by about 1951.

He started a Grade A dairy (bulk milk tank, not cans) in about 1952. Sold the cows in '61, so was only about 9 years, but sure seemed longer.

1948 Farmall H (sold to John Frechen in 2003?)
1941 Allis Chalmers C (sold at auction after he passed away March 2011)
1938 John Deere AR (sold at auction March 2011)
1954 Farmall Super H (sold to Earl Beneidict(sp) of Ionoa in 2009)
1943 John Deere B
The B was givin to him by John Gensterblum and restored for me to pull with, when he got sick he gave me a choice of which tractor I wanted. I chose the WD45 because it has hydraulics and I would be able to use it. The B unfortunatly was sold at auction in March 2011 to his cousin? for around $1200, I hope oneday I will have the money and he will be willing to let me buy it back. I hated to see it go, but if I had taken it then, it would have just sat.
