She's a good singer. I'm impressed by the guitar player backing her. Take the guitar away and her mandolin playing would be quite plain, but still good for so young a lady. I'm doing some with mandolin and watching her move her fingers from chord to chord makes me "cry"!!

John, I too cruise You Tube and am blown away by how much has "exploded" there in the relatively short time it's been around. I wonder how much of what is being uploaded of old TV shows, etc, is legal? My favorite instrument to watch on You Tube is the pedal steel guitar seeing as how I tried for 30 years and couldn't quite "get it" where I wanted it to play one. Still play the pedal steel some, but not so it "hurts me". LOL

Maybe I'll see you around sometime at a tractor show and could back your banjo with a litle rhythmn guitar?

The only shows I attend regularly are the Elnora Indiana in September and, of course, Florida Flywheelers at Fort Meade in Feb and March. You ever get to any of those???

On that You Tube video if you search that little girl "Bluegrass Girl" Danielle Yoder yoder 67 she also plays a mean guitar for her age. I think her timing phrasing needs some work as at the end of some verses I like to let the guitar or banjo finish out 2 or 4 beats of a roll and the singer catch a breath n then go back into the next line, where she (like the Dolly Paron original does) doesnt. Another 9 yo girl on You Tube named "Kayla" picks Foggy Mountain and Banjo in the Holler better then me and she only played 5 months grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Yep Id love to pick with some of you but remember I couldnt pack water to you guys from what Ive seen on here I started tooooooooo late in life. I had one sample on You Tube under John T Nordhoff if its still there, my son Chad Nordhoff (on You Tube somewhere) is the only musician in teh family

I need to put up a few songs soon, but no better then I play and especially when I see these young kids on You Tube (Sleepyman Banjo Band, Kayla, Katie Norton etc etc) who have only played a few months blow my doors off Im too ashamed and embarrassed to put it out there grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I sat in on one of your seminars at Gathering of the Green a few years ago. But I didn't have my guitar along and didn't know then that you picked a bit of banjo.

I don't attend the shows you mentioned above. Only regular one I attended was Two Cylinder Expo and finally got tired of the same oh, same oh, so haven't been there in a few years now.

You never can start too late in life to follow a dream.. That is what will keep you young if you have a passionate desire to follow up.

I found if you don't worry about a mistake now and then and keep going no one will notice

Anything I have heard from your banjo pickin has been good enough for our band. It does take more than one person, and instruments to make it enjoyable because it forces you to concentrate on the timing. (by the way my nephew was here today and wants me to come up to his music room and practice again) he has a four piece band now again. Thanks to Allan NE, I think I'll give it a shot... Not this weekend for I'm going to Brownsville Steam show.

I used to like going to the Blue grass festivals around here, You could practice at any campfire till dawn and sometimes get invited on stage with them.
