bird control in barn

Gamo makes a .22 pellet gun that shoots #12 shot
charges in a plastic sleeve that is named the "Viper". It works 100% so far on mice at about 20' and sparrows at 30". I don't know how effective it is beyond that. Not much I would guess. Unfortunately the sleeved shot pellets are about $9.00 for 25, but I don't think they will damage
barn tin if its over 20' away.

Best and cheapest bird control I've found is plastic snakes. Doesn't matter what color or how you put them out. Birds will leave.

Wait until hundreds of them roost on the hay rope running along the roof ridge at night. Then, your cousin, brother, and you sneak quietly into the barn, up the ladder to the second floor. Gently untie the end of the rope from the top rung of the ladder. All three grab onto the rope and jump through the floor opening, back down to the first floor, gripping the rope tightly. Take cover as the sparrows are smashed up against the barn ceiling and fall in droves. Repeat for two or three nights, then move on to smoking out rats from under the corn crib and clubbing them. No poison needed.
