Dry Weather; Record for July!

Well the National Weather Service at the Indianapolis International Airport wont make it official till midnight; But .47 inches in July makes this the dryest on record. Old record was .49. I only had about 1/3 of an inch the whole month. Were about to make another one! Today is the 15th straight day we hit 90 degrees, or more. 1 day 100 for the first time since 1998. If it hits 90 through Thursday, which is the prediction; That will make it the longest stretch of 90 degree temps in recorded history! I know other folks are suffering worse than us. Texas probably the worst!

We were well on our way to it up here in mid Michigan. I'd only had about .2 for the month til last Wednesday and Thursday when we got 3.25.

Really dry around here, south central Michigan, until last Wednesday. Since then, 2.9" and might get a little more Tuesday. Still no puddles of standing water, come on rain!

I'm in NE IN and the past few years July has been hot and dry. This year is no different HOT AND DRY. Last week in one seven day period we had three nice rains that were an inch or more apiece. Talk about a saving grace.

Try it down our way. Haven't had measurable rain here in central Texas since a paltry 1.5" around Memorial Day and there hadn't been any for a long spell before that. We hit 98 Saturday which snapped our 40 days striaght of highs of 100+. We're forcast for 103 to 107 for the next week and beyond.

Saw where you all in northern Indiana had been getting a little rain. In our little corner of SE Indiana, we've been getting missed. 10 miles north or 10 miles south get the water. Did have a 10 minute shower this past Saturday though. Course this is all probably like an oasis compared to the heat beating they're getting down south...

It's so hot and dry in most of the country, I heard that the man with the horns and pitchfork is closing parts of his establishment and sending them back up here to lower his heating bills.

Hi Atlarge -

In driving from NJ to Iowa a week or so ago - seemed like there were quite a few center pivot irrigation systems along the interstate in northern Indiana - compared to Illinois later on.

Is it really that much drier in Indiana or irrigation that much more pervasive? Or was I just imagining things??
