John Deere 3010 gas 1962

New User
Won"t run more than 10 to 15 sec. Seems to run out of fuel. Carburator rebuild, fuel pump new, fresh fuel, gas line ok, new plugs, points set properly. It is the same problem I had before having carbuator rebuild.
 
Does it run any longer with the gas cap off?

Have ya tried to run it off auxlilery fuel
supple? Like a Brigg's & statton gas tank?
 
Wouldn't be a plugged gas cap vent if it only runs 10- 15 seconds- takes much longer than that to build up vacuum in the tank. Sounds like its running until the fuel in the carb is gone, and is not being resupplied fast enough.

Take off sediment bulb, and turn on fuel- should get a steady stream, not just a drip (even a fast drip).
 
Does it just run while you are holding the key on start? Check if you have fire to the points with the key on run. My neighbors just needed a new key switch. Vic
 
Have you tried a different/new condensor and/or coil? Sometimes they start to act up or cut out when they warm up a bit.
 
ours did the same thing this spring, ended being a small screen on the gas line fitting that goes into the carb never knew it was there until it did the same thing, it was chucked full of crap. hope this helps. Mike
 
Changed fuel pump. I was standing on the right side of the tractor and when it started to cut out, I tapped the distributor and it ran beautifully. It would continue to run as long as I tapped the distributor.
 
I want to thank you all for the help. I will check the connection on the condenser and if nessary will replace. It makes it allot easier when you have help. The next step was a .357 to the block. Thanks again.
