Put up 7.5 pints of Jalapeno jelly today. And might do some Salsa or some such thing tomorrow depending on how things go. Did learn that I needed a bigger pot the hard way when the stuff boiled over on me and it was a mad rush to get things into a bigger pot LOL

Are your tomatoes ripe ?? I got my first one today .. tomorrow going to have BLT's ...

say while i'm talking to you ... last couple nites I lost a chicken each nite { they get lock up .. but a couple didn't get in } .. the chickens breast is eaten ..
any idea what might be doing this ???

THANKS .. and have fun canning ...

Mark

Ya some of my tomato's are getting close to ripe. I pick most when just a little on the green side they seem to work better for canning that way.
As to what is getting your chickens I would guess a coon or maybe skunk. If you had said they had no head that would have been a opossum. Could also be a whesial (sp) can't seem to spell that good enough for the spell checker LOL

THANKS Old ..
I know all about that spell thing .. my problem too ...
got 2 small buckets { 2 gallon size } of beans today ... just starting to get different stuff out of the garden .. pickles , zucchini ,and today a tomatoe .... my potoes I put in earler is starting to die .. so freash potoes soon ...
a friend of mind tells me if it's a weasel
it sucks the blood out and doesn't eat it ..

like I said the breast is eating .. we had 2 inches rain last nite and early this morning .. so I didn't see any tracks ...

hope they went in tonite .. lock up again ..

THANKS ... mark

I have already canned so 3 bean salad plus sweet jalapeno slices. Most of my squash has had it with it getting so hot and the bugs. Early sweet corn already picked. Beans are still going strong and have not checked the taters yet but could probably dig them.

A fox or something from the weasel family, e.g. ferret. They like to attack the breast for the blood and heart. waste the rest.

Old, I canned 53 quarts of Irish potatoes last week and just started on green beans and tomatoes.
