Black & White Buzzard (Vulture) Captured by GameCam

My wife was riding around the west woods along the west side of our place here in East Texas the other day. Called me with a story about something she saw in the woods, couldn't get a good look at it through the woods, described it as a big black and white bird. She couldn't see the head but saw lots of white fethers on its body and neck. I couldn't figure out what it was since Turkey Vultures and Black Vultures don't have white on them like she described. So we bought a Game Camera and set it out. Here it is:

I don't know for sure, but I think its an immature Black Vulture. I've never seen a Buzzard with that much white on it. This video shows the bird much better......She was riding on the Tractor pulling her trailer around. Bird wasn't scared of it at all.......

we've always called them turkey vultures here in sw ok....is the face kinda reddish? coloring looks right---you might use wikipedia to see if that is it or not. hth.

Certainly looks like our turkey buzzards we have here in Ohio. Also known as turkey vultures. Normally have red heads. Possible albino gene in this one? I have seen an albino one at one time.

Newly hatched buzzards are pure white and possible this one is a little slow getting mature colors?

A friend or ours set her daughter's violin case out on the deck to air out. Apparently the red lining looked like lunch to the vultures. At one point they flipped the case over but didn't try to eat it.

Oh, and one time I mowed the field below her house with my Farmall 200 and flail mower. Worked good on the weeds and saplings but the flail mower didn't handle tall grass very well...

That's pretty funny, buzzards thought the case was some kind of dead animal. Thought they found a meal.....HaHa

Here's another video of the bird waking up next morning...........
