Sometimes Life Just Isn't Fair

Neighbor was in a motorcycle accident and died this morning. He hit a horse on his way to work. Very nice guy, always friendly and waved, but the absolute worse part was he was set to retire on Tuesday. Today was going to be his last day, but decided he wanted to work just a couple more days. Work your whole life, and see the light at the end of the tunnel, and then never get to enjoy it.

When its time its time.

A simple fact is that murdersickle drivers have a shorter than average lifespan.

I worry about my son, who lives that lifestyle from time to time, but it's a personal choice.

If your neighbor had been driving a "truck" he would have had a MUCH greater chance of surviving a horse collision.

But he died "doing his thing", which is more than a lot of guys get to do!

Yeah, those kinds of situations are really rough. Guy I knew retired, and he and wife were going on a trip around the country in their motor home. He wanted to finish discing and planting a field, while she loaded the RV. He ended up falling off the tractor, got run over and killed by the disc.

Fellow hit a deer with a motorcycle near here yesterday. He died.I met a fellow in the emergency room years ago.Ran over a turtle and broke his arm.Three of us were going along slow on a country road.A big collie made a run at the middle bike and hit my rear crash bar.I could feel the Indian Chief set over a few inches. If I had a small bike I would have gone down.Sold The bike when my son was born.Figured he would need me around for a while.Saw a Harley go air borne when it ran over a small dog that was chasing the bike.

We had a guy hit a deer less than a mile from me. Knocked him off the bike. Then, before he could get up, some yahoo ran over him in a pickup, and kept going. Now he is basically a vegetable. The guy that ran him over never stopped, and they never caught him.

I personally know of two guys who collided with deer this year. They were both hurt pretty seriously. Motorcycling is inherently dangerous. You can manage the risk, but the only way to eliminate it is to not ride.

yep,ive seen 50 times guys retire apparently in good health die within six months.read a article once that said it was because by the time they reach that age they a generally a supervisor our something and are really not used to working all that hard at physical labor.when they retire they dont sort of ease into all the projects they wanted to do over the years.will pray for the family.

Tragic story for sure.

I starting riding 3 years ago at age 58 with the conviction that everyone out there is trying to kill me, including animals.

I"m probably the only Harley owner that rides at or below posted speed limits and also with my thumb on a dual frequency air horn.

It"s still great fun, but you have to anticipate the unexpected.

Not easy for young minds or after a few beers....
