Ebay rant, how to sell parts

I bought a massey 135 parts machine and figured I could sell what I didn't use on ebay and make back most of my money and discovered they charge $20 bucks just to list on the business-industry category! some of the stuff I was gonna list isn't worth $20. Its hard to believe that a guy selling a tractor ignition key is paying $20 to sell it for $10. Am I missing something???? I called ebay for clarification and he assured me that every item in this category do pay the fee. How does it work on ytmag's classified. Is there a fee? Sorry for the rant but ebay doesn't seem to want anyone to sell anything in Business and industry unless its a tractor or other high dollar item.

Thanks All

Charlie

can't imagine that's right unless it's completely different from over here.......... There are fees higher when you do buy now or set a minimum price, but you only pay a % of sale when you start at a buck and let it go.........

YTmag classifieds are free, and I am also selling on ebay now too. I am new to ebay so I don't know all about it but they are giving 50 free listings a month and I pay 10% of the total price including shipping to ebay if the part sells, plus paypal gets their fee. I prefer YT but there are parts I have had up here many times without selling that i have been able to sell pretty quickly on ebay, so I guess it is a little complicated.

I think you were listing in in the business and industrial "Tractors" in instead of parts. If I sell a skidsteer I pay $20 to list. If I sell a skidsteer PART I pay around $.05 per listing.

The cost depends on how much the starting bid is, its free to list items under 1$, you must be in the wrong category it should be agriculture and forestry if I remember correct.

Agriculture and Forestry is a sub-category of Business and Industrial.

Yeah, you in the wrong category. listing is free up to 100 items a month. Commission is 10% at least + paypal fees.

Use this category

Business & Industrial > Agriculture & Forestry > Antique Tractors & Equipment > Parts > Massey Harris, Ferguson

Thanks everyone, I thought it had to be wrong. I called their number and got a foreign person who didn"t speak English very well. He swore that everyone had to pay the 20 if it was in business and industry.... period. I will try again but not sure if its worth the hassle now.
