My dog always dug the odd hole here and there, but this years he is digging holes all over the lawn. Just wondering if maybe he is lacking something in his diet, or just bored, or going crazy like me with all this wet weather?

Wet weather???? Where are located?

My dogs like to dig a 'hole' to lay in when it's hot and dry. I'm going crazy too!!! But it's not wet weather that's causing it. We had above average rainfall in the spring (April and May), but since June 1rst we've been dry. I can't plant anything. My wife won't even take root.
I just came in the house from discing part of the garden that I hope will be a fall garden. My Jub got all the way up to 210 degrees, hotter than she's ever been (I had to replace the original gauge because a hail storm took out the glass last year, and the new one has numbers on it). Most of the time, even in hot summer, she only shows about 180-190 when I'm workin her hard.
It's hot out there!!!!! Had to hose her down with the garden hose on on the radiator before I felt good about shutin her down. I reckon the dogs feel the same???

in a heart beat! we could trade off every two weeks. I wonder if we would get taxed on that barter system??

Break it's leg. No no, don't do it! My dog
got a broken leg in june. Then he got an
infection and had to have two toes cut
off. Can't dig in the flower bed now but
i'd rather have him healthy and me mad
ar him for digging. Jim

A grave perhaps???? This might be a bad omen... he might know something you don't... and he is helping dig you your grave.... nice doggie.

What the gov't don't know won't hurt them!

Our dogs try to dig up moles in our fenced yard. They've caught a few but sure had fun trying. The moles don't do near as much damage to the yard as the dogs.

Same here, exactly. They're meaning to be helpful, but are doing more damage than the moles. I love them though, so...

give him a pan of water and go buy back that 8N so he can lay in the shade.... If that dont work get him a pair of downsized boxing gloves.--- LOL

Mostly if a dogs toenails are bothering them they will try to ware them down by digging this happens if most of his walking is in softer grassy ground .

Now, mind you, I'm NOT a vet, but to me (as a layman) it sounds like a REAL shortage of LEAD in his system!

neighbors of ours in pa had a family discussion about fido and the fact that he was getting old and that the ground would be froze in the coming winter so father and son decided to dig a big hole now, there getting along pretty good when the dog jumps in the hole with them and helps with the digging. poor dog did die that winter....
