O/T--How Humid Is It In The Cornbelt?

We are kinda on the edge of the cornbelt, but humidity here in Michigan seldom goes below 30%, except in the winter. We get some summer days that you just about cut the air with a knife, the humidity makes the air hazy.
 
Live in south Eastern Il. was quite comfortable here today. I think 90 was the high and it didn't stay there very long. I remember going to basic training at Fort Dix NJ, in the summer. Most guys were complaining about the heat and humidity. Us guys from the Midwest though it was plum pleasant. If the heat and humidity reached 150 they let us loaf most of the day, we were usted to that every day all summer. LOL Vic
 
Not exactly in the corn belt but there is a lot of corn grown in NE Arkansas. It hasn't been too bad the last couple of days but earlier in the week the actual temp was as high as 105 and the heat index as high as 126. Typical summer.
 
here in southwestern Minn at 1030pm it is 80% humidity and was 80 degrees a few minutes ago.
Air conditioning would feel good but it is good corn growing weather. You can almost see it grow.
 
I'll tell you what Spook, They're going to sell a lot of Gold Bond this next week in the Midwest.

That reminds me of Vietnam. 95 degrees and 95% humidity, almost every day, and our fatigues were washed in river water and left to dry or mildew and then you can imagine how you smelled when you sweat, but at least everyone smelled the same, so you got used to it.
 
100% this morn. I've worked in SW Kansas in 110 degree dry heat and it's like opening the door of a blast furnace. I'd get kind of sick by mid-afternoon but it didn't seem as bad as Iowa at 95 with 90% humidity. In dry heat you can step in the shade and get cooled down. In humidity it's just plain miserable no matter where you are, with your sweaty clothing sticking to you. Jim
