Well it has to get dry so all of the Mexicans feel at home. LOL just joking. It is a real heart breaker to go through a drought. To set there an see your hard work and hopes slowly whiter away. I will take a tornado any day the damage is over and done with fast.

The flooding out on the Missouri is just as bad. Many there are losing everything too.

How are you going to like having James under foot all of the time now??? My wife says that if I ever retire she is moving. She gets enough of me now. LOL

I trueley do feel for you all,,,,We also go from one exstream to another up north here,,,,,,,We at the last two years have been flooding,,,,Cant get into anything,,,,And im shure the time is comeing some year again for us that it will get so dry we wont be able to spit,,,,we have also been so dry like you folks are now,,,,,,all i can tell you is that rain is comeing for you also,,,,and when it comes it will probaley be more than you will want some year,,,,there is a happy medeum but not every year,,,,hang in there and take of each other....

He"s not going to be underfoot. He"s moving to the farm. I have a few more years to work in Dallas before I can retire, but will head to the farm on weekends as usual.

2005 and 2006 were extreme drought years.

2007 it was so wet, we didn't get our first cutting of hay until late August.

So yup, weather goes from one extreme to the other and everything in between.

One thing making the drought worse is the continuing heat wave. We've had nearly 20 days in a row over 100 already.

Nancy, on the news a couple of days ago, the report stated that several different cattlemen had moved herds from areas of very little drinking water to abundant water. The cows drank their fill, and a number of the animals had laid down and died a few minutes later. I've never heard this before, but it does make sense.

Who will be the next envangelist to try to collect "tithes" by using the dry weather as the "end times" prediction?
The weather is what it is. No where except in the weatherman's mind is it written that any temp or amount of water is "normal". They use averages based on time. If you go back far enough in time, their predictions do not hold water. (no pun intended)

Nancy if you will email me. I can send some pictures of how good we have it down here. Fields going dry, cattle being sold, stock tanks drying up. I heard some expert in Washington say that Texas was not in any trouble.

[email protected] You can post them if you want to. I don't know how.

I know what you"re going through. We had severe drought in 2003 and very dry in 2004. The next few years were adequate and 2009 and 2010 was normal. This year we have an abundance of moisture from a record snow pack but the spring was very cool and the grass came on late. The wife"s garden is at least a month behind. But I"d rather have this than a drought.

Hang in there. The weather always changes.

CLTX I lost a nice semantal bull a few years ago from that he got to hot trailering let him out in the pen he walked over to the trough he drank a bunch took about 10 steps and dropped. and i sold all my cattle about 2 weeks ago brazoria county

You guys up in the DFW area don't know what drought is yet. You had some rain in the spring and those of us here in Central Texas have had nothing. I sat here and watched the storms cross the DFW area on radar while we got nothing.
I did not get one cutting of hay. It wasn't growing and it was starting to turn brown so I let the cows in to graze on it before it died.

Here in Schulenburg, Tx no grass, no hay and most stock ponds will be dry in another month.
I retired 3 years ago, my wife has 3 more years to work
I moved to the ranch, wife still in Katy. Think we are closer now because when we see each other we have to make up for lost time!

My part of Louisiana is over -20" behind in rainfall. We could classify as a 4 also. Control burning tomorrow... Ag burning can still be done if equipment is on site!
