Salvage yards

Flew into Calgary on Sunday evening, drove down into Montana through the Sun Road, absolutely fantastic.
Spent today in Great Falls and off to Gardiner and Yellowstone tommorow befor going across to Cody and Rapid City.
Managed to order up some new piston rings for my Massey 97 from Auto Machine in Great Falls, got a real helpfull guy called Brent. Tried to get a hydrualic filter for my MF 1155 and head gasket for my JD 5020 but no luck. Might get a filter at a place near Saskatoon but the only head gasket is away up past Banff.
Hope to leave Rapid City and travel up the Dakotas on our way to Manitoba. I hope to find Pete's place but wondered if there are any other tractor salvage yards on my way up there.
Keep thinking you guys have a great country here and everyone friendly and helpful.
Forgot to say just before we reached Great Fall we passed through a hail storm, huge pieces of frozen snow so the hire car has lots of dings on the hood and roof, dont know what the hire company will say about that!

it sounds like your having great fun on this trip from Canada down through the States . is it just to find parts ? watch for the bears in Yellowstone they are Grizzlies and people are part of the food chain .

Rental car outfit won't say a thing- its an "act of God", nothing you could have done about it.

I flew into Omaha one time, and went to pick up my rental car. Had reserved a compact. Guy said, "We got hit by a hailstorm, most cars are out for repairs. If you don't mind renting one with dents, just go stroll around and find one you like. Any size. Don't pick one with a broken windshield." So I came back with the number of a very nice Lincoln, and he said "Wise choice", and signed me up, at the compact price.

Have a good time on your "grand tour"!

May have better luck if you get the head gasket form a Deere dealer and same with the hyd. filter from a Massey dealer or maybe a Napa store would have them next day for you if they don't have them.

Good tractor scrap yard in Salem SD, on I-90.
Tractor museum in Kimball, SD I-90 west of Mitchell.
Free camper spot my land, Mitchell, SD.

Gordo;

I've hunted around Mitchell a few times. Do you know the Asbensens? She taught school and he used to farm around Mt. Vernon. Now I think he's a go between for folks selling farms and buyers. Really nice family.
