This afternoon while spraying some fallow ground,a very small baby rabbitjumped from behind a weed,in about 5ft.,a Golden eagle swooped down and grabbed it.it ate some,and then carried it off to it's nest.We who "farm/ranch"are blessed to watch all the drama that nature provides.
 
Nature's cruelty? I thought you were talking about me. Everyone I know would have thought you were talking about me. Even my own mother would have thought you were talking about me. As a matter of fact, she always swore that my father cheated with the milk lady because to her my mother tell it, there was no way she gave birth to me.

I know what you mean though. We have Osprey by me, and they are about as big as eagles. We used to have a chiuaua as a house dog that we inherited from someone, and one time I let it outside amd there was an osprey pirched on our fence rails and I didn't see it until I let the chiuaua out. Obviously our big dogs weren't out at the time or the osprey wouldn't have been there. Its a good thing that osprey had good vision and liked fish, or that chiuaua would have been toast. Burned toast.

I'm suprised people on here didn't want you to shoot the eagle.... hey, one of these forums there is a guy- sounds like Wheatland Wyoming area with a big IH for sale, maybe a project for you?.... lyle's not on here yet, my gang in Edmonton must have killed him and hung him in the smoke box. I told him to leave a good tip...don't listen...
 
A quik kill ain't cruel.

Here's one for ye.

I've seen coyotes partly eat a calf still stuck in the cow that was having trouble calving and tear the rear of that cow apart + her udder.
The cow was still alive when i found it,the coyotes where still at it.

I have had calves their eyes picked out by crows.I had to kill the calves.
 
Nature is cruel-or not, thats just the way it is.The food chain is what it is.I used"Nature's cruelty to get your attention-it worked.
