Disking in the rain?

Good Morning all

About a week ago I plowed up an acre for a deer plot and was planning to disk it today, however we got a pretty good thunder shower last night and its still raining on and off. My question is: will my M pull an 8 foot disk in the wet ground or will I be spinning out, and will the disk get packed with mud?

Thanks for sharing

Regardless of whether you can pull it or not, discing wet fround is counter productive. Let it dry out for a couple of days.

NEVER a good idea to disc wet ground.

Just plain makes a mess that you'll live with for the rest of the year.

An M will pull an 8' disk anywhere/any condition with ease-play with it.as for as the mud issue, try it and see.scrapers are a must!I've had disks ball up in 'dry' dirt missing scrapers.

Like Allan sez, discs are to be used in the driest grond possible to -pulverize, as in dust? in Spanish pulvarado?? In wet dirt, you will have another Spanish word...adobe... and live with lumpy bricks till next spring....

it will pull it, but you aint going to like what happens next, you'll be very busy, very often chipping and prying the mud from between the disc blades, and if you let that harden in there you'll learn a whole new definition of the word work lol

Rain on plowed ground is good. Park the disc. Wait till it gets a good "brown" on it and hit it with a springtooth and spike harrow.

Timing is everything, hard to farm around a job work schedule

I have seen my share of tractors stuck resting on the drawbar without anything behind it in wet fresh plowed ground.

I have heard that mixing dirt with water is how they make brickes. Disc it good wet and with this hot sun we have here and you might have a brick floor for your next shed or a brick parking lot.

I WOULD SAY JUST RUN THE TRACTOR UP AND DOWN THE FIELD -- SAVES GETTING STUCK , AND GET THE SAME PACKING AFFECT AS A MUD FILLED DISK
