Question about I.H. pre-cups,D236

I'm majoring a D236. During the head rebuild, I damaged one of the pre-cups trying to get it out of the head. I posted a message some weeks ago for advice on how to get it out, I tried all your suggestions, it was just stuck too bad. It did come out now, although unusable. The question: This thing would be really easy to make on a lathe, and it is very soft. Could I make it out of some kind of high- grade stainless or something? The other choice is spend $250 for a new one. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, Fritz

I'am not sure if the're the same or not ,on my 282 diesel,i needed all 6 pre cups,a machine can make the cups, but they do need to be heat treated. They just threw my my cups with some of their other parts and they looked like factory ones.steve
