You just can't make this stuff up.....
have a wagon with wooden running gear (posted pics of it before).....
Just loosely advertised it on a couple of forums here for 400 bucks (half what anything with a metal running gear in sad shape would go for...

Had a guy PM me asking my last word on the price because "it needs a lot of work".....torqued me right away but I asked him what he wanted to pay... Said he was only a short distance away and would like to see it and set up a time for the weekend..... So, today while I was taking off my flat wheel/tire, a big mercedes pulls up (a neighbor told him where to find me) . guy gets out carrying a bible, turns out to be the guy for the wagon..... Got a kick out of him but kept a straight face (people skills ya know....) and told him we'd have to go about 3km to see the wagon. Jumped on the quad and led him the long way around on the gravel (dusty) road and to about 300 yds from the wagon. Said he could get on the quad with me or drive his car. He rode with me, bible and all...
Got to the wagon and it started immediately with (best translation) "oh boy.... look at this, jada jada........" walked around, opened the bible like he was reading a little.mumbled something and came back & said " not worth much but I guess you need the money.....I can give you a hundred bucks....

Told him to hold that bible real tight and ask god for a ride back to his car and and I'd just cut the wagon up for firewood ..... then left him there jabbering.............

Well Dave! It looks like your People Skills, are in good shape, and working well! I always wanted to be able to do something simular, However I usually think of what I should have done, after it is too late!

If it hadn't been for the 90 degrees, flat tire, and disrupted schedule that is now getting some hay wet, I mighta been a little different (maybe).....

Although I am a church-going Christian, that Bible-thumping bit would have pi$$ed me off at the get go; you're to be congratulated for even allowing him to make his BS low ball offer.

Now Dave your people skill has come a long way --- you know now How to use them both ways --- LOLROFLMAO !!!

Hee Hee Hee, I likes your people skills! I always get people telling me my hay is overpriced, compared to what they can get it for, in Westminster. (about an hour away.) So I always gives them the directions to Westminster!

I wonder if he ever read the twentieth chapter of Proverbs:

[b:654c4848f0][i:654c4848f0]"It's no good, it's no good!" says the buyer; then off he goes and boasts about his purchase.[/i:654c4848f0][/b:654c4848f0]

Put that wagon to work so you do not get the wet hay, even if made of wood they will last longer than the ones made out of steel. And if you are a few miles from home with it and put that tractor in high gear wide open and get home before the rain hits you will like it better than the other wagon.

That would make me mad, too. I can stand a little low-balling, but carrying that Bible would about drive me off the deep end. I mean, what is the purpose of that? To rub his superiority in your face? I don't think God wants folks to use his word to get a lower price!
