I posted about your violin photos further down where your original is. Sorry I missed them before, been too busy elsewhere I guess.
 
Thanks, I'd be glad to hear from you. Email is better than phone for me at this time of year because I'm out of reach of the phone so much of the time. You should be able to send an email by clicking the send email link on this post. I followed the recommendations in the book I was using for the thickness of the front and back plates, I am sure I did not get them perfect but I did what I could.

Here's a photo of the violin varnish work I'm currently working on. Ron

Here are more photos. I'm using a red-brown varnish over the base stain of sort of a yellow gold. It's my first attempt at this and with the naked eye, it doesn't look as smooth as the photos show. It's actually 4 coats of varnish over the base stain. It will need at least 2 more coats of clear varnish before using the pumice and rottenstone to polish it out. Each layer of color varnish makes it just a little darker.
