Finally got to use my "new" drum mower for more than just a test stretch. Getting to know it and it's doing fine.... Really blowing the cobwebs outta the little tractor tho...

aint it always fun to work a new "toy", specially when you discover that little tractor can do the work you need, lookin good Dave

Dave, if that's you, then I have a few pounds of breathing room! Just kiddin, at 275 lbs, and under height at 6' 0", I know from whence you speak. My drum mower is similar, and from a coupla years experience, with it, here's what I can tell you:

1. If you hear a noise, like a rock hitting the blades, it probably IS a rock hitting the blades! Never look back, at that noise, as the drum mower senses this, and will shank the rock left, right toward your face!

2. The toplink adjustment, is critical, to A.)the survival of the hay you are cutting, and B.) Your own survival, see # 1 , above.

Remember not to cut too low, with the toplink adjusted too tight, that's all I am sayin!

(quoted from post at 16:50:05 06/26/11) real nice picture, who took it for you?

Wife was taking horse pics in the pasture next to me....red tractors just naturally take nicer pics huh????

That is a great set up. I have a drum mower and it is the
cat's meow. The trick to a clean cut is angle the front of the
mower slightly by screwing in the top link. If the field is a little
rocky, slightly angle the mower back by screwing out the top
link.

I cut about 50 acres a year, and blade changes are
infrequent.
