On an older 4500 ford backhoe. The lower pivot point where the boom swings left to right is worn out. The bushing is gone and the pin is and metal have worn alot. Is ther a fix for this? Thanks for the help.

If you have access to a line boreing machine it can be welded up and new bushings and pin installed

I had the same issue with the upper pivot bushing. I used an old portable fly cutting fixture with a different blade to cut it round again then pressed in the bearing (using a very large screw) with a sleeve made of the appropriate size sheet metal. Worked out great, too tight in fact and had to do a bit of grinding inside the bearing to get the pin to slide in without binding.

You will need to re- bore and bush the swing post also. The lower pivot pin flopping around will break up the new lower bushing. It's a lot of work, but a 4500 is worth it. Check the anchor pin for the swing chains, the hole actually, bore that too while you have the swing post off. Fritz.
