OT--My Rant for the day!!!

I knew it would happen--I got THREE [b:a3112563a1]SCAM[/b:a3112563a1] creit card calls to my cell phone today :!:
I have had it registered with the DNC ever since I have owned it and registration is up to date.
I get these type call nearly every day on my land line but today is the first time on the cell :?:
I called my phone provider with a complaint and they said there was nothing they could do :evil: I got the same answer with my land line provider :x
Just a shame that they say there is no way to stop these calls, but it is apparent that these [b:a3112563a1]SCAMMERS [/b:a3112563a1]are paying for a 800 service, and of course that's a profit for the phone companies :evil: :evil:

have 2 cell numbers, 1st number on bill, 2nd extra number that i use for almost everything, no voice mail on 1st, keep it turned off so when callers try to call, they get "no voice mail set up for this number". never get calls on 2nd number from sellers/scammers/etc. both have caller id, if i don't recognize number/programed with people i know, i don't answer, it goes to voice mail. then i can delete it.

i set my ringtone to silent on all unknown calls, I love it when they call and when you answer they say please hold for a very important announcement....these companies are the scum of the earth.

As I've mentioned before on this forum, when Caller ID shows a number that's obviously a crank call of some sort, I just answer the phone in Japanese and continue to talk in Japanese.

It blows them out of the water. You very seldom get called a second time.

Actually, I'm not all that fluent in Japanese, I just know enough of the language to harass crank callers.

You can report them to the dont call people just call the same number that you regestered your phone on works for me.

I have filed a complaint against the SAME number as many as SIX times over a period of a few weeks, and the calls continue.
These callers are smarter then the DNC or the phone company :x
I have got the same message on a local number that was from an 800 number earlier :evil:
I have six of the numbers "blocked"

You say, "THREE SCAM creit card calls to my cell phone."
How do you know they are SCAM or creit card calls? Have you back traced or called the numbers to ID them?
Remember any companies with which you do business is allowed to call whether they are on the DNC or not and if you have recently given a business your cell number that's why that started.
The phone company does not have anything to do with DNC, However, for a fee they can set you up for call blocking and then you can set any number you want blocked.
I have traced some of my calls back to; the Phone Co, a credit card provider and, after I purchased a new vehicle, Ford Motor Co.
