head gasket- which side up?

If it's NOT marked (AND ALL holes line up perfectly either way) it does NOT matter, IMHO.

This is my standard diesel, all holes match either way it goes, no markings. Ya know Lyle, some of us got to work fast ya know, not everyone gets to enjoy the midnight sun- like you and Haector and Bison etc etc etc. why are you wasting the longest day of the year on here? go outside and do afew more things- till dark. At midnight..... man am I jealous

he local law says Im only to go outside at night

Im thinking the only way it would matter is if you have two different metals for the head/block?

Crimped eh? The copper side is crimped at the grommets, black tin side is fairly flat, but I squished and kinda bent it by accident awhile ago, so I don't know if it going to go on anytime soon, thought I would do try tonight, if I got enough votes either direction- but wireless wouldn't reach that far, and unlike some lucky people... it got dark here, so I had to stop.

I was thinking the same thing, if the head was aluminum or whatnot, but this whole engine is a puzzle, sooner or later I suppose it will all sort out. I just found someone who sells a 200 odd page manual for these English made engines. Wish I found that 3 months ago.
