It has no mast so could it actually be a loader with a fork attachment on it? You might try looking for AC loaders.

It's very unusual for sure but many tractor makers reversed the controls to convert tractors into forklifts. Yours looks more like a lower lift loader with forks on it. It also looks like it would be a real pain to work on the engine. Sure has high ground clearance though.
 
I have a D15 forklift and it doesn't look anything like that one. The hydraulic levers are similar and I can see the lever for the shuttle clutch. The control tower is similar to the one on mine but not the same. Henry Co. made the forklift masts that were used on the D15 and the I600.

A friend of mine has an I600. I run it every week when we use his sawmill. Do you have any idea where we can find a parts catalog and shop manual?

No idea, I look at every swap meet that I go to for one. You might try Larry Swenson, Bill Deppe, Norm Steinman or Dan Smith. Those are the main guys that I use.
