OT Funny thing about pictures

About a year ago I posted some pictures from our local tractor show and now I am amazed that I have seen these pictures posted all over the Internet. I just took a picture of a good lookin truck that was diffrent to see at a tractor show and posted it for all to see and enjoy. I am truly amazed how information and pictures can get around the world! I never thought much about it before that the information shared here on the Tractor Shed can help so many and give enjoyment to others. Example Joe in Iowa needs help with a hay baler and Bill in Mississippi tells him how to fix it, Now Padro in Argentine reads this and fixes his baler with this information. It is amazing! I am an old farmboy that took a picture of something I liked and is now humbuled in the fact that so many people liked the picture and have shared it with others to enjoy. I quess my eyes are opened alittle wider now to the world. Bandit

Sure makes it a small world. Sad part of it is that not everyone uses it to help others..........

We've had a couple of our horses turn up for sale in these scam ads, and someone showed up here to pick up a dog that they had already paid a thousand euro for. They ended up working that one out and a local kid got in a little trouble...........

Bandit,

If you are talking about that Mack Pickup--I found that on a Google search of custom Big trucks If that is the one Thank you for the pic.
I really didn't know where it came from. I just saved it into my pics.

i have seen a lot of car for sale ads on c-list, where some one took a pic from some other site and used it for scamming. they use just about any pic of anything to use for scamming...i guess we can't control those a$$-o who want to rip some one off..it's also nice when we help out some good people, like you mentioned...

I would never use anyone's pics for something like that. The net is an awesome thing though, that there are pics out there that maybe a person couldn't see in a life time other wise--- if folks didn't share them.

I don't take most credit for some of these pics
only the ones I take.

Try doing a search for a known pic or topic in this forum-- bet you will find it and maybe even refer you back to the page.

Yes I took the pic of the old Mac and posted it for all to see and enjoy. I just thought the truck looked real good and others would want to see this one. I just never dreamed it would end up everywere. I am not mad at anyone for using it and passing it along thats why I posted it. I am amazed that it has gone everwere it seems. Just kinda wierd I quess. Bandit

I find other people's photos most convenient when I place a wanted ad: I can use their photo to indicate what I'm looking for. Handy and it is effective.

Reminds me of some pictures I posted of a front mounted snow plow I built for an N series Ford about 10 years ago.
I've seen them posted many times by other guys on various boards as "just some photos I found and saved". Had one guy swear it was built by his uncle and another insist it was built by an old neighbor of his.
You just gotta chuckle and remember that the spirit of these boards is to help others with their old tractors. Even if you get cussed out for stealing someone elses pictures when you know they're your own.

I have a Photobucket account and have various albums for all to see there. Most are of my home area and family and some farm related. When I label the photos I attempt to label them so that web bots will capture them via an easily searched for topic such as the name of my home town.

As to how quickly a post is bot scanned and available on Google or other is amazing. Generally within an hour you can search and find a post with certain key trigger words.

Internet posts stay around for many years too. A post today may still give search hits 3-5 years later or even longer.

Thanks for sharing your photos BTW.

Yeah, some guy posted a picture of his tractor or backhoe or something on here awhile back, and then a link to a C-list ad with exactly the same picture. His comment was something like "and I didn't even know I was selling it! Sure doesn't look like I'm asking enough, but at least it should sell quick! LOL"

They same thing can happen to your personal details that is why you don't be so forthcoming.

On the back of envelopes, during the war was written.

"sealed lips save ships".

suppose the same applies here but it is usually your identity and bank balance..
