Differences in 3000,3100,3150 etc Ford

It was told to me it is the type of fuel they burn. I believe it is like this, 3000 Gas, 3100 Diesel, 3150 LP. I may have them mixed up my memories not as good as it once was.

3000 is the series number. 3100 is the actual model number of a 3000 'All Purpose'. 3400 is the utility. 3500 is the industrial. 3150 would likely be some model derivative of the 3000 AP (3100). Not sure what it is exactly though...
Fuel type is not reflected in the model number in any way but it IS reflected in the model CODE that
s stamped on the transmission housing.

I received conflicting info on this. My question rises from the list of manual that are available: 3000,3055, 3100, 3120,3150, 3190, 3230, 3300, and 3310. I'm thinking along your lines, but just wanted clarification even more detailed than what you gave.

Thanks for the increased understanding, but I still have voids. I have a 3000 (1970). I don't know what you mean by derivitive. The listing of manual shows a long list:3000, 3055, 3100, 3120, 3150, 3190, 3300, and a 3310. So you don't think the "50" would denote, say power steering or better hydrolics? Someone else thought that the "100" would represent a diesel. Or maybe the "300" meant diesel? I know you didn't think so, but...
