The BIG MAN Clarence Clemons (Sax) has passed away.

Anybody remember listening to the E Street Band running a tractor?

Not running tractor, but Springsteen & the E street band get my vote for best of class. The big man will be missed.

I saw those guys at some huge soccer stadium in Frankfurt, Germany right after he got married and they came out with the Born In The USA album. Was '85 or '86 and a good concert. About four hours of them. Somehow I ended up about dead center right up against the stage with some really hot German chick that I never saw before then up on my shoulders the whole concert. She asked, and whyyyyyy not? A couple of times when he came to the edge of the stage and the crowd surged smashing the air out of me, I thought I was dead, but I survived. Going into the stadium they herded us through cattle gates, and I "MOOOOOOOO'd" the whole time and got the Germans cheering and doing it too. Was all about good music, good dopplebach beer, hot chicks, and good times in general. To be young again.

R.I.P. Clarence.

He's rockin' with Ronnie VanZant, Allen Collins, Huey Thomasen, Steve and Cassie Gaines, Billy Powell, Leon Wilkeson, Warren Zevon, Waylon, Johnny Cash, The Caldwells, Duane Allman and all the other greats that are gone...be a helluva concert when we get there!

It amazes me that Bruce Springsteen did as well as he did, cause I think he sucks. Bruce ranks up there with Bob Dylan, Rob Orbison, and any other rock clown that got rich but they sucked.

Yes I said Bruce sucks.....Okay throw me to the wolves.

Well.....For starters;

ELO, Eric Clapton, Joe Satriani (the greatest guitar player ever) Gerry Rafferty, Deep Purple, Santana, Jethro Tull to name a few.

As far as Female singers; Jennifer Rush is awesome, And that country singer that is in the slammer....Mindy Macready she is good too.

Joe Satriani isn't the greatest guitar player, sorry. Very good yes, greatest no. I would rate Eric Johnson, Chet Atkins, many of the Funk Brothers, Bo Diddley, John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, Jerry Reed (Yes, The Snowman), Mark Knopfler and even Angus Young are just as good as Joe, and I believe better than him. And there are others. I do believe the druggie and boozer Eric Clapton isn't the greatest, as people make him out to be.

As for Springsteen sucks, why or how? Have you ever listened to the Nebraska or the Darkness on the Edge of Town albums? Or listen to Dylan's lyrics, don't just hear them.

And at least Springsteen and sing, play a guitar and write music, what can Santana do beside play?

As for Jethro Tull, over-rated. Winning a grammy for "best hard rock". That's a joke in the true sense of a joke.

Not a fan at all. Most of his music seems aimed at high schoolers or people that think high school was the best time of their life. I'll take Bob Seger over him any day.

I guess it comes down to opinion then huh?

I have listened to many many guitar players, Jeff beck, Eric Johnson, Eric Clapton, Robin Trower, Mark Knoffler, Carlos Santana, All of these guys are great, but I like Joe Satriani the best.
I think Angus young really stinks, AC/DC is one of those bands that teenagers like cause they can scream into the microphone and thrash there heads up/down back/forth.
I really dont like Springsteen, not my kind of music and he is Waaaayyyy over rated. (he does have more money then me though)
I have always liked Jethro Tull.....I like Ian Anderson and his flute playing.

'Guru, You do know that AC/DC has been around since the 70's? When I saw them on the Ballbreaker tour there were more people in the 30-45 year range than teenagers. I realize your not a fan, but listen to the guitar work Angus does in Thunderstruck or It's a Long Way to the Top when playing with Bon Scott who was on the bagpipes.

DannyH20, saw Bob Segar about 10-15 years ago, 10 feet from the stage and no body in front of me. It was a helluva show.

Another great, though he died way too young, Randy Rhoads.

I agree that Randy Rhoads was good, Played with Ozzy and I remember hearing a live version of an ozzy song that sounded great with Randy playing.

I forgot how he died, drug overdose, plane crash.?

Some of Randy's stuff with Quite Riot in Japan is awesome to listen to, but hard to find.

Plane crash killed randy, with I believe the tour bus driver flying the plane. I know randy was clean, but the pilot was drunk or on drugs.

Clarence put the "heart" in that band as far as woodwind instruments go. Rest in peace Big Man. WOW gun guru - I underestimated you, Joe Satriani does rock, Surfin'with the Alien is one of my favorites from my jet ski/ knee board/ waterski/ Road America days. Cliffs of Dover rings true as well...

Thought he was the best thing goin til he started badmouthing the president in public along with the dixiechickens, big nosed barbara, and the other worms..... Don't care what your beliefs are or what side you're on, a public figure just don't do stuff like that.

"Met" Clarence Clemons just before a their concert in Munich 8 or so years ago. Quick handshake and it was over, but him and the others (except bruce almighty) were signing autographs and mingling a little.
