Wanna run back a few pages before it goes to archives ? On the Jack Question I posted you a Pic.

If this is the way it goes. It still wont let the jack go down . Alternating the top dog and the bottom dog. It just pulls both dogs out and drops. Cannot let it down at all with a load on it .

I think you are right , but maybe there is a piece of that spring missing ,or possibly took two springs to make this jack work.

And I want to thank all that responded.
Jack Question ?

Humm keep messing with it. Move what you need to with your finger to make it go down. Then figure out what you need to do to make the handle do it for you.

Been messing with it for a couple days now..
Ran out of options -- LOL Thanks anyway. I cannot make the spring alternate the dogs anyway way I try.

I was having a heck of a time with my handyman jack a while ago. It worked fine, but it just wouldn't work to ratchet down a load. I had to work the action manually for every notch. Everything moved in and out fine, it just seemed to be broken and I couldn't find out why. All the parts were clean and not worn. It just didn't make sense. By luck, I spilled some hydraulic oil on it while it was laying in the bed of my pickup and now it works like new. It was surprising since everything in the action moved very easily even before the oil. When in doubt add some oil, i guess :)
