I am looking for some advice on tires. I have a 1951 Farmall M, and I am in need of new tires. Currently I have 13.6 X 38 on it. I am going to do some antique pulling in the "percentage" class, and I was wondering if anyone had recommendations on tire manufacturer, and size. I know most pulling sanctions require "stock" tire size, and I don't want to take away from the "original" look of the tractor, but want to make sure I get the best tire for the money when I buy them.

13.6 is a good tire for an M-Thats what I run on mine.15.5 would also work-could use the same rims, but may not be allowed in your pulling club

Oh yes, forgot to saythat I just this spring put on a new set of Firestone 'Traction Field and Road'tires(13.6x38-$565ea)on mine.A darn good lookin tire.

Hey DeltaRed, I paid $585 about a month ago for the identical tires. Tire guy said they are scarce. He also said tire prices are expected to go up as much as 80% in the next couple years. Have any of you heard this? Or is he BS'ing me. Wayne

Check the NATPA sight for the square inches of tire in the ground...mst pulls we go to use NATPA rules or modified NATPA rules: So if you are going to pull in the 5500 class, 228 SQ Inches allowed max, you could go 15.5x38 and have 169 sq inces, or 14.9x38 at 200 sq inches to be legal.
I run 14.9x38 Firestone FnRs on our JD70 gasser and they work well but when the Super M is done being built, it will inheret those and some 15.5x38 will go on the 70 slow her down in 1st her a tad,,,The Syper M is slllllooooooowwww 1st and might nenefit from the 14.9x38s

Once in a while, but not much any more.It always did good-always out pulled the shiney ones! Its just a worker-a darn good one at that-
