I have a chance to buy a 1940s Montgomery ward "tricycle" tractor. hasn"t run in 30 years left outside. Its all there. Any help as to value would be appreciated.
 
There is a restored one in a museum in Independance, IA. You might call them and ask what it is worth. I don't think many of these tractors are around, but it will be a lot of work to restore if it sat outdoors 30 years.
 
They seem to be VERY Rare. Parts would be difficult if not impossible to obtain which is why I am being cautious. I suspect that many parts would be transferable from something else from the same time period I just don"t know what.They were built by the Custom Tractor Company for Montgomery Ward but there isn"t much on them either. I offered $200.00 an that"s probably too much.

I believe the Montgomery Ward tractor was built from components manufactured by several differant companies, and those same components were used in several other brands of tractors and industrial equipment as well, so the parts you might need are all "out there" somewhere.

The engine might be a Continental, rear axle might be a Chrysler truck, transmission might be Chrysler, etc.
 
I have one, a twin row. Pretty simple but parts can be a pain. Has a Hercules IXB3 engine in it.

Thats what I expected,hoped for and feared all at the same time. Just identifying whats what could be a challenge. Still waiting for a response to my $200 offer. Wondering if I should offer more.
