now that my seeding is done i dont have much to write about wife says get a job or win the lottery you dont happen to have the winning numbers do you never worked for wages before was always independent dont know if i know how to work for anybody eles

I have worked a job most of my adult life-factory work, diesel shop, plumber hehper,.farm labor, etc.I left my last full time day job about 6 1/2 years ago(it was quit or commit suicide,I was VERY depressed)been full time farming since.doing custom farming,a little mechinaching, odd jobs here and there to supplement our meager farmig income. The Lord has enabled us to survive(and even grow a little)its been"tough sledding"but we are still here.I frequently get discouraged about always beeing so broke, but Susan reminds me that God is in control and IS takeing care of us.She is right!

Our neighborhood is poor soil-its a fight to get things to grow,we have the same inputs as the other side of the valley, but a much reduced yeild.I 'm tired of that BS(and of the end less irrigateing) and am about ready to quit-or move,or both. What would I do?Where would We go?

you know im not much of a farmer but i do talk to alot of farmers up here it can be a tough battle some times the last couple of years we had drought grass hoppers and know a late spring and years ago it was so wet people could not get there crop off because of the mud. when i first come up here in 1985 i was logging for my dad in november there was two feet of snow and very cold and believe it or not on xmas day there were guys combinning in the fields the weather here is crazy you cant really plan anything but thats what makes life interesting I though i had it made with my constuction business but 2 years of waiting for the phone to ring for jobs is getting pretty old. the life of a small contractor is dissappearing fast i think but im not quit giving up yet and yesterday when i got my seed in the ground there was a real sense of accoplishment. I started to feel self worth again believe me i know what deppresion is 20 plus years in the oilpatch is like a never ending rooler coaster ride with all the ups and downs it is very hard a person i started in business when i was 18 and know i am 43 that is a long stressfull road i am very tired now and have to make some life changes this little farming adventure im on know is just some theorpy for me and is does work. dealing with these old tractors can be pretty fustrating for some people and it is a little for me but the patience i have is unbelievabe. From what i know about you steve i think you are a fighter one who doesnt give up to easily and one who takes great pride in his work i think your the type of guy who can make anything work just by gong to the junk yard your a good man steve! I am not a religios man but i still believe in the good will of people i have helped many people out throughout the years and i had people help me

Hey You Two; you two don't realize a few things. First, how much of an inspiration you are to me, to us out here trying to make sense of farming. I guarantee you don't realize (and you will never know) much of an inspiration you are to quite a few high-school kids who go by your place, see what you do, and how you do it, and WISH they could be like you. I guarantee it.
You also don't realize the grace that is alwsays bestowed on you, the blessings and grace that are showered on you, and WILL BE showered on you. Have faith in yourself, your spouse, and the Someone watching over you.

Me too. I still have some construction equipment but It is really bad here in east Texas. People want stuff done for little to nothing and all your "friends???" come out to get you to do it for free seems like. I to am selling it all and just try to get by on my SS and farm income. God WILL take care of things, just put it ALL in HIS hands.
God bless you and trust in God to get us all through these hard times. I'm almost 70 now and He has never failed me yet and never will!!
Fred
