went out to put something in my shed here in nj and heard a good sound, There is a horse farm behind our development where we live here in nj,and the owners grandson was mowing the pasture with a JD B , I walked out into the field shook his hand, and asked him if I could take a picture, I explained to him that my dad had 2JD As and a JD B , He was glad to here it,because he thought Iwas walking over to complain about the noise!

its still working! I liked the old camera better, this one is called a Kodak easy share, someone gave it to my daughter, she already had a better camera,so she gave dad the Kodak

You gotta clean it every now and then. looks like someone hocked a loogy on the lense....... Oh wait, that's a tractor.......'scuse me........ the green and yellow threw me off for a minute

Nice pictures Larry, as usual. It brings back memories seeing that young lad riding with his left foot so high up on the lever to raise the cutter bar. I remember those days well,;mowing with a 1945 Model B, and I was a lot smaller than he. I could barely reach the lift pedal.

Ask if he'll mow my yard in Missouri next. It probably looks like that since I've been in Mexico City for a month. Oh, and he needs a hyd cylinder to lift that bar. Good photos.

Looks like he's doing a good job with that old JD #5 mower.

Glad to see him using the foot lever on the left side.

Those foot levers are scarce around here.

Enjoy your photos as always; thanks for sharing them with us.

great pics larry thanks for sharing. that old #5 and b brings back some memories, although my dad had a late model w/ hydraulics. it was later sold for a 50 and #8 which we still have to this day. also reminds me of some pics we found while cleaning out my grandparents house of my grandpa and family making loose hay w/ the old jd h and an old jd horse drawn mower that was converted to tractor pull.

(quoted from post at 18:46:02 06/06/11) you mean you think your little red german tractor is better than a JD B?

No Sir!!! I'd never badmouth the tractor. Just that green color...........

just kiddin you guys...no need to get a complex paint your tractors

What"s really great; nothing in the pictures to make one think we weren"t back in the 50s.
Kid looks like he really knows what he"s doing!
Not leaving uncut hay on the corners or anywhere.
Back in the day, that combo was the cat"s meow!

John Deere tractors would have been practical when you had to worry about Indians taking you out while working the fields....At least if you were working a meadow with a lot of dandilions. Camoflage ya know

That kid is flat into that! He's having a ball. He even got a chance to "get up close and personal" to the old girl. (Note the grease on the back of his arm)

Takes me back. Ran a JD #5 with an Oliver 77 diesel many years ago- They seemed to get along OK together, although the colors clashed a bit.

Kinda sad that he assumed you were going to complain about the noise, but I guess that's the way the world is, these days. Its music to my ears!
