If anybody has been following my post you probly know im just playing around with some land and some old farm equip I just wanted to say most alberta farmers are good at what they do they have lots of land with new eqip. they have many challenges much like anybody and they keep on going good times and bad. Some do not make it but lots do. So I guess what im trying to say is what you see on my post is just my adventure in farming im just doing it for the expeiance and the fun I dont plan on making any money with this little challenge. I think all you farmers out there are very important people and dont get the respect you deserve and the money you deserve I hope times change in the future with out you guys we all starve. Thanx for reading your friend Lyle

See where the world demand for food is growing and Farming is decreasing. The next war won't be to oust a Dictator,But it was 2030 onward so that wouldn't bother a lot of us..

Lyle,I just play around too with a bit of land(mebby a bit more than you) and old machinery(i never bought new),been playing all my life it seems.
only the last few years i finally make some money with it.

"Live poor and die rich" is the farmers motto.
But i'm free as bird and do what i want. Its a good life.

Bendee,
I hope those in control of the food demand don't fudge it like the controllers of Gas and price.
It will start with blaming the greedy farmer to obese kids and grow from there.

Almost all our food must be ripped apart chemicalized, then add a few vitamins put it in a bag then a box that costs more than the food, and make more than the farmer

We had a coconut cream pie for supper and it sure didn't taste anything close to a coconut cream pie. It sure left a after taste.

A Few months ago CBC Market Place did a piece on Wonder Bread +, What ever they added a kid would have to eat 240 slices to get the added nutrients.

My late mom use to make those cocanut cream pies for special occasions sure were good. She even made them when my wife and I were married in 1953 when I was in the Army and her parents were there too. She made everything from scratch.

They only went to the store once a week back then
even if the snow was deep. I put tire chains on and we went. Back then they never removed all the snow. We would sled on the hills when there was no traffic or go ice skating when it was real cold. Hal

Yeah,let's blame the greedy farmer.
We sure stick it ye,..don't we!

If i where you i would buy a chunk of land and get at it.You'll be milionaire in no time.

bison,

Sorry you didn't Read my post.

("It will start with blaming the greedy farmer to obese kids and grow from there.")

I wasn't blaming the guy on the bottom rung.

Back in the '60s I saw a special on farming in Canada, McCain's paid the farmer a huge $5.00 a barrel for potatoes. McCain also planted 10,000 acres so the farmers couldn't hold out on them, then it was cheaper to plow them under for next year rather than harvest their own potatoes.

(now I suppose you stop speed reading about here)

Back then a barrel had 166lbs of #1 spuds, not too much Green Skin was tolerated.

Today the loaf of so called fresh baked in the super market has gone like the chocolate bar shrink, shrink, shrink up the price enlarge start again.
I remember when a loaf of bread was by law 2 lbs. right now for $2.50 the loaf isn't much larger than the kaisers we use to get.

Unless you are a huge commercial farm you're only allowed to make a living in the best o times.

So your so called fortune is if, and only if you can last at farming long enough to see your property value go way up. (Taxes Too) and you have to sell when the subdivisions get too close.

And everyone says see another rich farmer/little do they know you could have lost it just about any year you farmed.

NOW where did you see Greedy Farmer.
I said they would get the blame.
