I live in Kitsap Country of Washington State and was wondering if anyone was willing to sell their 3 pt hitch boom pole?

Is there a way to make one without welding?

Thanks and sorry if I posted this in the wrong thread.

You possibly could secure it all with bolts instead of welding, but you would still need a way to cut & bend the pieces to fit. And also, you would have to drill 1/2" - 5/8" holes in heavy material, if you don't have a torch.

You would be better off by just buying one locally, IMHO.

If you make your own consider the safety factor when designing and assembling one. Have several hundred pounds of whatever crashing down due to a collapsed boom could be quite dangerous.

If you should come across a use one make sure it isn't damaged. The one I have, but not used for a long time, has damage from rain or snow getting into the tubing and freezing until it broke.

I suggest you just go to some place like Tractor Supply and buy one for around $100.
You can hardly buy the steel to build one for that.
I bought this King Kutter some years ago and use it a lot. I paid $59 for it on sale at Fleet Farm.
If you want to make it even handier put a hydraulic top link on your tractor.

I built my own for my Jubilee as I had the material on hand. However, if I were doing it again, I would go buy one already made.

I don't think you have much in the way of farm stores in Kitsap Co- do you have a Dell's? They have some 3 point stuff down here (Chehalis), but don't know about a boom.

Also, try Tozier Bros. in Shelton- 360-426-4373

I really think you'd be better off with a commercially made item, especially if you're not a welder.

I think Mike(WA) is on the right track. Looks like there's a Del's Farm Supply in Shelton. I've seen 3-pt stuff in their Buckley and Enumclaw and Auburn stores, so I imagine if Shelton doesn't have it, they can get it. Worth a call anyway. See link below for store locations.

Woods Bros. (the same people that make the 3 pt. mowers) used to make a real good heavy duty one. Don"t know if they still do. Might be able to find one on an auction or a eguipment trader. Armand

I have a storebought one, don't use it often, but sure handy when I do. Can't build one for what I bought it for, but that was several years ago.

Yes we have Dells in Port Orchard (40 minute drive) and they don't have one but yes they can order one but I think they wanted me to pay for the shipping as well? There is a place about a half hour away from my house that has had them and I had them take my phone number when they get some more in. I am looking for something that can pick up about 500 lbs, or as much as 1000 pounds.

Haven't a clue as to what tractor you might have but remember a 1,000 pounds hanging well behind it can be a load if only category I 3 pt.

Decades ago I had a Big Ox category II 3 pt. crane and used it to pick up a 40s era car body and chassis in order to load it on a truck to haul off. Worked just fine.
