I am rebuilding my carb on my ford 54 naa model TSX-428.I am having a time it will run from 10 to 15 mins and start missing and die.It will do this over and over.I can the plug out of the bow as good gas stream.12 volt good fire,I wonderif I left something out

Thank for your help,

Two possible items.
THe fuel tank cap could be plugged. With no vent, it will draw a vacuum in that time and not run. Check the vent.
The other is a bad coil. When it stops feel the coil. If it is hot, that is a good probability.
Also immediately check the spark at the coil wire when it stops. Be careful to be in neutral etcetera. My bet is on the coil. Jim

When it quits immediately get out of the seat, pull a plug wire and Verify that you have a bright bluish white spark that will jump 1/2 inch.
Requires no tools.
When you are confident you have good spark when it's hot then go back to your fuel, air, carb.

Maybe one tool- recommend holding the plug wire with insulated handled pliers, to position it to see spark. The rubber portion of plug wires can break down over time, to the point that you may get a good jolt if you hold it in your bare hand.

The answer is the same today as it was on the Ford forum the other day...
Check for hot fire at the coil WHEN IT QUITS.
A bad coil will often work OK when it's cold but once it heats up from it's internal resistance... after 15 minutes... then it will no longer fire.

The other primary option is a vacuum in the tank due to a bad gas cap... but again, if you have removed the drain immediately when it quits... you should not be getting much flow from the bowl drain at that time.

The fact that your tractor runs at all is likely sufficient proof that the carb itself is OK. Time to look elsewhere for the problem. A low float could be part of the problem but generally the old Marvel's are not overly fussy about that.
