I"ve had several people tell me that. Most makes and models in the small 20-40HP hydrostat yard tractors. Are all built to similar specs in the same factory. Just painted different colours, slightly different sheet metal, fenders, tires, labels etc.
Then shipped to North America, assembled and sold.
Any truth?

Most seem related to MTD, think they all consolodated into the conglomorate.

Much like Agco now represents Allis, Ollie, White, New Idea, Simplicity, and a dozen more former ag lines.

I would have to do some research but when you talk about 40 Hp I believe you are referring to the compact tractors. Cub Cadet when it went to yellow and black are Yanmars.

Smaller tractors built for gardening Like the Cub Cadet If it doesn't say International it is probably an MTD Even so the early MTD version did use some of the rear ends that International used.

MTD now owns MANY of the old NAME lawn and garden equipment name. Cub Cadet, Troy-bilt, Bolens, Wheel Horse, Yard-Man.
Briggs and Stratton owns Simplicity, Snapper, Maybe Walker.
Ariens is I think still independent. They own Gravely and STENS aftermarket.
AYP, American Yard Products I think is still independent. I think the build many of Sears mowers but I have seen a Craftsman Snapper. I also think they build Husky and White riding lawn mower. That said this could change from year to year depending on WHO bids the lowest on next years contract.

New ones:John Deere(old ones too) and Cub Cadet are Yanmar Agco,Massey and Challenger are Iseki
New Holland and CaseIH are Shibaura(all Japanese)
Bobcat is Doosan(Korean)
Old ones:Allis Chalmers and Massey were Toyosho
don't know about the others

Toro owns Wheel horse, MTD owns/makes White outdoor products. MTD also makes the Huskee sold at Tractor Supply , as well as many other brands.

Not sure about all of them coming from the same place, but to the best of my knowledge all of the compacts are imported.
I know that some Deere models are built in the same factory as Branson in Korea by Kajuki.
