JD ran out of fuel

my JD 401 industral ran out of fuel. I know there is no excuse for this to happen, but it did. It has the Roosa Master pump, whick has just been rebuilt. I have fuel to the injector pump, but I can't get the injuctor's to bleed, no fuel comes out when I crack the fitting at the injector. What am I doing wrong? Any help appreciated. Stan

Sir, I think if you look at the pump body Item #12 is a fuel bleeder for the pump.

Crack it open and it is likely a hollow capscrew that will let fuel out.

Also is there a lever on the fuel transfer pump that you can pump? It should be pumping out the inj. pump bleeder. Then it should bleed through the injectors Ok once fuel is in inj pump head (While Cranking).

Haywood has the correct answer. Open the number 12 plug. If the transfer pump has a handle. Pump it until fuel comes out. Close the plug and then open the injector lines. I find it is better to crack the lines at the injector. If need be you can leave the plug open while cranking the engine. It will start and run,but it gets messy. Before you can close the plug.

running out of fuel happens to everone at least once in there life. getting fuel to the injectors sometimes takes a while lots of cranking

Thanks alot. I did bleed the pump, and after a few minutes it was going. Wouln't let that happen again until next time.Stan
