ford select o speed

Folks across the road(I do their hay)lost the tranny in their 901sos.after looking for 4-5 years, they finally gaveup (parts were NLA)and installed a complete trans(5sp)from a 801.I think the trans came from Texas.Good luck

There are few folks still around who will work on the Ford S-O-S transmission but there is nothing inside that one who has been inside an automotive automatic transmission cannot service with the aid of a proper service manual.

Most parts are still available from CNH but some are expensive.

One option is below or you might try posting on the Ford forum.

Don't know where your located but as long as I can get a service manual for it with torque specs, clearances, etc, I'd be more than happy to tackle it for you. That's one thing about being a mechanic, you can't be afraid to take on any project. Like I was told years ago they only make so many kinds of parts and it just depends on how you put them together as to what they do, and a Select-O-Speed transmission is nothing but an automartic just like any other, it was just made for a tractor and given a fancy name by the maker, just like CAT with the Powershift transmissions in their construction equipment.

At it's heart an automatic transmission is composed of clutch packs applied by hydraulic pressure and/or held by a brake band. A Select-O-Speed transmission is made up of the same components and operates the same way. A CAT Powershift transission works the same way using hydraulic applied clutch packs. Granted the Select-O-Speed nor the Powershift change gears automatically so I understand neither are "automatics" but the basic parts are all the same. Personally I've built several powershifts up to D9 sized so something like a simple little Select-O-Speed doesn't scare me in the least.
