Does anyone know how long after utility companys mark there lines that you can still dig before you have to have them come and mark them again?

Stands to reason that if the marks are still there and haven't been moved, or no other utilities have been directionally drilled through the site, (you could obviously see if there had been something dug up/open cut and a new line laid) etc then it's kind of a no brainer that the lines that were origionally marked haven't moved. That said depending on the situation such as flags planted in a pedestrian area where they could potentially been moved, etc would be one situation where a time frame to get the work done might come into play, but beyond something like that as long as none of the conditions I just mentioned have occured then go ahead and DIG. If your worried take a pic of the site and the marks that has a date stamp and/or go ahead and call and ask the company that did the marking the first time what to do. Either way you CYA if you should hit something that they mismarked.

I work for a Utility co in IL according to JULIE the contractor has two weeks from the date the ticket is called in to start the work. If they do start then the ticket expires in one month from when the ticket was called in.
