I have a 4230 powershift while baling hay today it would not move in reverse.Forward worked ok.If I continued to shift from forward to reverse or disengage pto it would finally move in reverse.
Anyone have an idea what coould be wrong?

Mine was wore in the shift linkage where you move it over to reverse. A common problem.
I took the linkage apart under the cowl and welded it. Mark

Yes, it's because you are out baling when most of us are under water!!! Now cut it out and play computer games or work on an antique or something until the rest of us can get out there!!!

If disengaging pto prompted your tractor to operate in reverse then I would suggest checking trans pump psi. It should be 165-170 psi. How long since trans filter was changed and sump screen cleaned?
