40 yesrd ago this spring Joplin had a bad tornado. Not as bad as Sunday's but still had 30 some blocks of damage. Hope it missed Old and everyone else in the area

Our harts and prayers go out to thoes people . I am wondering if we have any boadr members there..

Just three years ago, May 10, a much larger stronger tornado went through about ten miles south of Joplin. It was in a rural area so it didn't make the national news. A mile wide and about thirty miles on the ground it caused a lot of property damage and, I think, five people killed. It came during the night and a family and one volunteer fireman drove in its path.
I just checked the local paper's website and deaths are up to 116.

Joplin is 150 miles to the south west of me so yes it missed me. Been a lot of storm warnings in the area on and off now for a week but so far not problems other then to much rain. I do have some relatives in Joplin and my mom is going to try to call them tomorrow to see how they are doing

My thoughts are with you and your relatives in Joplin. I was 5 miles north of the path that the Zenia Ohio tornadoes took in the mid 70s My student teacher at the time lost his brand new car (3 miles on it) smashed to a Krinkeled ball around the engine and trans. Jim

Back in 2003 we had a few bad ones in this area. Sure was glad I had that Cat 950 running at the time other wise I would not have been able to get out of my driveway as easy. Even as it was it took a good hour plus to move the trees etc off my driveway and my parents. Took out the biggest tree on the place that year plus flipped my hay barn on its roof
